This is a notable message as Hip Hop albums usually provide comic relief or break from the monotony of coming across as hardcore thugs through the entire album. “N**** don’t test nuts, yo luck’s f***** you feeling tha wrath of tha boneyard, thuggin’ off with the graveyard shift we comin’ up on yo hoe card, b****”Īn interlude a capella with a stern point, Me Killa.

Plus the lyrics are not for the faint of heart as Flesh boldly says, The feel is gritty, thugged out, and no-nonsense as the instrumental alone can kick your a**. Everything said throughout the album is reiterated on this one track, they take no shorts no losses and it’s the murda game they’ve mastered with grace. To smoke to or ride to or just chill and listen this is a personal favorite with an addictive melodic hook that will have you humming it to yourself at times when you least expect it.Ĭertainly a hardcore listen reserved for the last track on the album so if you didn’t hear one word up until then, understand that this song is home for Bone. This song is easy to listen to as it features all five members.

Definitely a lot of replay value.Īs Layzie Bone states “ For the love of money f*** tha fame, we peep game, we crept and we came“, they set out to do exactly what they did, and have the platinum plaques, Grammys, and Hip Hop respect to back it up. This is a strong track and stands out amongst the others, not only as a good listen but with a sense of an overall bottom-line of the album’s direction. Out on the West Coast where gangstas are known for having ‘heart’, Krayzie Bone made the message pretty clear: these Cleveland thugs have none. “A n**** that always has my city wit me, now who was that n**** they put in that plastic, a n**** that thought he could bang, that n**** slipped that n**** blasted, a man from the land never ran I stand wit deadly men, if ya come a little bit closer I can turn you into sand” We all know the success of “Crossroads” with the heavy radio rotation and grammy’s, but the vision of the album can be shown by highlighting a few notable tracks. The feel of this project can be simply described as dark yet melodic smooth, as most of the tracks have a laid back tone with soft piano riffs and heavenly bell chimes coupled with violent subject matter.Īt the time gangsta rap was on America’s playlist and in everyone’s stereo, then Bone quietly crept up on us to confidently, without boasting or bragging, to show us how it’s done. After the success of their first EP that dropped a year prior, this second effort was far more than surprisingly good but went on to become phenomenally great selling more than 10 million copies worldwide. Some of the items on the list of hip-hop mysteries I find perplexing are “who killed Tupac?” and “who killed Biggie?” and “how can anybody like Soulja Boy?” Now, we might as well throw “how can I hate Bone Thugs-n-Harmony so much?” on there, too.Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s E.1999 Eternal is the second album from the group released in the summer of 1995. Possibly the biggest waste of opportunity and talent I’ve ever witnessed. And their lyrics entailing tales of drug use, violent acts and occult references aren’t that observably commendable for being ‘gangsta’ or ‘satanic.’Īll their ingredients are EPIC, but are seemingly stale in their sub-qualities.

Their chill, spiritual smoke beat format – consisting of enlightened and creepy synths, dark and light piano samples, gentle percussion, and twinkles – just aren’t what they should be. The soulful, raptor quick, half-singing, half-rapping of the Bone family seems great in principle, but comes off as boring. I understand the theoretics of why they produced a quadruple platinum EP and won a Grammy.

It’s easy to see why they’d be successful. But, they don’t, and I have not a clue as to why. With a thumbs up from one of my favorite rappers Eazy-E, lyrical mimicking of my all time favorite group Three 6 Mafia, lightning fast deliveries, and a good R&B/Soul smoke beat format, BTNH should make me do backflips. Technically speaking, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony should be my favorite group ever. Cleveland families have a tendency to do that. All the right ingredients are there, but I think they’ll just somehow mess it up. Epic superstar LeBron, heavy hitting big man Shaq, solid point guard Mo, a good coach in Mike Brown, and a deep bench.

Hell, the Cavs haven’t won any championships, and although they’re favored to win the Larry O’Brien this year, I don’t think they will. The Indians last won in ’48, which is the second-longest baseball drought behind the Cubs, and the Browns last won in ’64, before the Super Bowl even EXISTED.

They’ve gone forty-six years without a championship, which is the longest drought than any other city with at least three pro sports teams. They just absolutely, totally fuck up the recipe somehow. Review Summary: The Bone family has all the tip-top ingredients needed to make a five-star meal.
